On 26th September 2019, LBBW placed its first social bond on the market. The senior non-preferred issue had a volume of EUR 500 million and a term of eight years. The bank intended to use the proceeds from the issue to refinance projects that created added social value. These included, for example, projects in the field of health and social services, such as hospitals, university clinics, medical practices, nursing homes and homes for the disabled. Kindergartens, schools and vocational training measures, as well as communal infrastructure projects and services such as public transport or water supply, could also be refinanced.
